With Elden Ring’s Two-Handed feature, you can wield your weapons and shields with both hands simultaneously! There are several platforms on which Elden Ring can be played, and depending on the platform, you can use two-handed weapons and shields. The easiest way to do two-handed play with any of these is to hold the button that displays the quickslot menu and tap the hand slot you wish to use. More Elden Ring.

2-Hand Weapon Tips
- Increased Power: As a result of two-handing a weapon or shield, they use slightly more stamina for each strike.
- Two Weapon Moves: Using a two-handed weapon gives you access to another moveset, especially if it’s a bigger weapon. Instead of a horizontal swing, you may have a strong downward strike. When Two-Handing, however, you will lose a shield’s defense, which may force you to rely more on dodging.
- Enables Skills: Performing skills like Square-Off requires two-handing the weapon first or the weapon on your other hand slot doesn’t have a skill at all. If a weapon skill doesn’t seem to work, try two-handing it!
Verses Dual Wielding
2-Handing a weapon should not be confused with Dual Wielding which is the technique of wielding a different weapon in each hand. Dual wielding is performed by simply placing a weapon in each hand using the standard controls for weapon wielding.
