As your starter Pokemon in Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV), you need to be able to rely on it throughout the entire game. You should choose the Pokemon that you feel most comfortable with! For me, I chose Fuecoco!
Fuecoco’s design is really cool! In terms of appearance, it looks like a cross between a reptile and a hot pepper, which is perfect since it’s a fire-type Pokemon. Similar to Gible, which evolved into a deadly and powerful Pokemon due to its wide mouth and short arms, this cute Pokemon has a wide mouth and short arms.
Why I Chose Fuecoco as my Starter Pokemon
Fuecoco is an excellent starter Pokemon for Scarlet and Violet due to its Fire-type and its ability to learn new words. In general, Fire-type Pokemon are rarer than Grass- or Water-type Pokemon, so having one in your squad from the beginning is ideal if you want to cover everything from grass to water to ice.
In addition to being Fire-typed, Fuecoco also has a few weaknesses that are unlikely to cause it to lose out to Pokemon with more weaknesses, like Steel. In addition, Fuecoco is resistant to the Fairy-type, unlike the other starter types. There are four types of fire that are super effective against them while six types of fire are resistant to them.
The final evolution of Fuecoco into Skeledirge, is a dual-type Fire Ghost. Due to this, it has two immunities, Normal and Fighting, as well as the ability to deal super effective damage to Psychic and Ghost-type Pokemon. There are only two additional weaknesses it picks up in the Ghost and Dark types.

Fuecoco Against The Gym Leaders
There is a type advantage for Fuecoco over the majority of gyms in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Ice-type gym leader Grusha, Grass-type gym leader Brassius, Bug-type gym leader Katy, Ghost-type gym leader Ryme and Psychic-type gym leader Tulip are all weak to Fire or Ghost. The Skeledirge gym team is completely immune to Larry’s Normal-type gym team. With these matches, only two gyms will have neutral or unfavorable matches.
In all but the Dark type Team Star Base, Fuecoco and its final evolution are resistant or immune to Team Star Bases. There are five types of magic: Dark, Fighting, Fire, Fairy, and Poison. In addition to hitting all of these types for neutral damage, Skeledirge has an array of useful type combinations.
The Good and the Bad
- Excellent offensive and defensive typing skills.
- As it evolves, it gains Ghost Typing, which is a useful skill.
- The majority of gyms and Team Star bosses are vulnerable to this attack.
- During the early game, you’re guaranteed a Fire-type Pokemon.
- It looks adorable!
- Ceruledge and Armarouge are tough competitors since they are both fire types.
- In comparison with the other starters, she is a little slower.
