How to Break Ore Deposit Rocks in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
To break ore deposits in TOTK, you’ll first have to unlock the Fuse ability from In-isa Shrine. This ability works similarly to Ultrahand, except it allows you to fuse your weapons with other items, buffing them and providing unique effects. If you’re unfamiliar with this shrine, be sure to check out how to find the second shrine on Great Sky Island in Tears of the Kingdom.
What will you do with the Fuse ability, though? Well, you’ll have to find a rock. Fusing a sword or even a stick with a stone will create a hammer-like weapon that’ll quickly blast through those ore deposits. You could also pick one of these up from enemies, but having this ability makes things easier for you in the long term.
As shown in the picture below, I used a Rock Sledge I picked up from an enemy to break some ore deposits. However, if you’re in a cave with rocks nearby, you can combine swords or sticks with them instead. If you visited the In-isa shrine recently, you might still have a Rock Claymore or hammer in your inventory!

With your rock weapon in hand, just take a couple of swings at the ore deposits until they break! You can find all kinds of ores, from amber to rock salts, that you can use for various purposes. While some materials fuse with your weapons to increase their attack power, other items are cooking ingredients that’ll give you status effects dishes.
