After combat, the Master Sword will not be useful for some time. The Master Sword can be used to fight enemies in the world when you encounter them. But after repeated use, it runs out of energy. Before you reach the final hit point, it can hit for five to ten more swings. It’s the rough equivalent of when a weapon is about to break.

You must switch back to your standard weapons until the Master Sword regenerates its energy once it reaches its limit. The Master Sword can break technically, but it will also regenerate energy over time, so you can use it again.
How Long Does The Master Sword Take To Recharge In Tears of the Kingdom
Master Sword regains its magic after only 10 minutes of real-world time if you plan to use it again. Because you’ll be absorbed in the world you’re exploring, it feels like it takes much less time.
The Master Sword will appear in your inventory or on your Sword Selection screen (D-Pad right) when it’s ready to be used again. Unless during the opening sequence, it is never completely broken, so you can use it over and over.
