A special stream last September celebrating Assassin’s Creed‘s 15th anniversary revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the next game in the series. Ubisoft announced Mirage would hit PlayStation, Xbox, and PC for $49.99. The game returns to the series’ roots, serving as a spiritual successor to Altair’s adventure that kicked off the series. With a scaled-back approach and a shorter runtime, Mirage is intended to return to the series’ roots. Related: Assassin’s Creed Mirage Goes Back to the Roots – Finally!
Although Mirage is a stand-alone game, it has been a part of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla since 2020.
Mirage creative director Stephane Boudon tells me in the Ubisoft Bordeaux office that the idea came to us while working on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and its DLC when the idea came up of creating a specific expansion for Valhalla and returning to the Middle East. In addition to being a longtime fan of the series, I also wanted to bring back this environment [and those] vibes. It was also near the 15th anniversary of the brand, so it was something we wanted to bring back.
