The wacky monkey himself is back! Toki has embarked on a new adventure! The cult action/platform game, originally released on arcade machines in 1989, is back with a super-simian new version featuring all-new hand-drawn graphics and a re-recorded soundtrack!
I have to admit that this my first experience with Toki (original or remake) and I think it’s hilarious! Play the original 1989 arcade version first and then you can really appreciate the work that developer author Microids put into this remake. The graphics are awesome and the game-play timing is spot on. It made into my game picks list! – Donnie, Editor, GFB
Toki: The Story
In the jungle, Toki the warrior lived peacefully with his sweetheart Miho. The horrifying voodoo sorcerer Vookimedlo and the heinous demon Bashtar, who appear out of nowhere, kidnap Miho and turn the poor Toki into a chimpanzee. Toki: About the Remake
It was Philippe Dessoly that completely redrawn the game by hand. Philippe Dessoly is an illustrator who has worked on numerous manga cartoons, including Captain Harlock and UFO Robot Grendizer, as well as comics and video games for years. Also, he worked on the Amiga version of Toki and Mr. Nutz in 1992. His drawings have further enhanced Toki’s apish good looks.
Raphael Gesqua, award-winning composer of more than one hundred video games, has re-arranged the music in order to provide a retro and modern soundtrack to Toki’s adventure. Raphael Gesqua has composed the music for more than one hundred video games in the past. Continue reading …
