It will take just a few days for Destiny 2’s next chapter, Season of the Deep, to begin, and Bungie has revealed a few new Strand Aspects ahead of time. All classes will have a new Aspect, which is essentially a modifier that alters how each subclass behaves. They all differ greatly in functionality, so let’s take a closer look at each.
New Strand Aspects in Destiny 2 Season 21
- Hunter: Threaded Specter
In this class ability modifier, a decoy of the Hunter woven in Strand is left behind after a dodge. After the decoy takes significant damage – or when enemies get close – it explodes and releases Threadlings.
The feature could be particularly useful when soloing Legendary Lost Sectors or when attempting to bypass enemies during trickier platforming sections, such as those found in certain dungeons.
- Titan: Flechette Storm
Titans couldn’t be Titans without sliding melees, and Season 21 finally brings them to life. When sliding, a charged melee sends you up into the air while knocking back enemies. You can then use your melee again to launch a volley of damaging, unraveling projectiles, similar to the current Strand melee.
Having a melee that can hit from afar is very welcome in Destiny 2, where enemies stomp, explode, or otherwise punish the player for getting too close.
- Warlock: The Wanderer
The Tangles you throw attach to your enemies and detonate, suspending them around you. Threading final blows also creates Tangles.
This isn’t particularly interesting for Warlocks. I do think the ability to suspend targets more reliably is welcome, and a lot of Warlock’s Strand kit involves spawning tons of Threadlings, but relying on them for final blows is a bit dicey. Whether this will be a reliable endgame pick depends on time.
