One of the first mass-produced microcomputer products, designed primarily by Steve Wozniak, Apple Computer (now Apple Inc.), and debuting in 1977 with the original Apple II, the Apple II series was one of the first highly successful mass-produced microcomputer products.
The Apple II was a big step up from the Apple I, a limited-production bare circuit board computer for electronics enthusiasts that was easy to use, had a bunch of features, and was expandable. In 1988, Apple released a number of models, but the most popular stayed pretty much the same until the 1990s.
