The first season of Diablo IV will start on July 20, and it’s called Season of the Malignant. Today, Blizzard unveiled a new trailer along with details about the content.
There is a new questline set after the main campaign in which Malignant Monsters, born from Lilith’s corruption, are terrorizing Sanctuary.
It is possible to harness the corrupted hearts of these creatures to gain new powers by killing them. In this update, players can earn six new Unique items and seven Legendary aspects, a new boss called Varshan the Consumed, as well as 30 new Malignant abilities. In addition, a Mastery title and a Scroll of Amnesia allow players to reset the Skill Tree and Paragon Board for free.
New characters begin at Level 1, and all Renown progress, Altars of Lilith benefits, and unlocked mounts are retained. After the season ends, all characters are placed in the Eternal Realm, which allows them to be accessed permanently. The Malignant Hearts that you collect from fallen monsters, for example, will disappear once the event is over. Blizzard promises that the season’s features will offer new ways to customize heroes. Newcomers can also explore the seasonal realms while playing the main campaign.
