Your Primary Elden Ring Stats Dialog
Here is a list of your primary stats and how they affect your performance.
Vigor
Vigor is a form of vitality, being strong active and full of energy. The Vagabond class has the highest starting Vigor stat! The Astrologer class has the lowest starting Vigor stat! I guess it’s good sometimes to be a vagabond! So here is what Vigor actually does in Elden Ring:
- Vigor Increases maximum HP and fire resistance.
- Vigor Increases Immunity, making you more resistant to Poison and Scarlet Rot.
I want some of that vigor!
Mind
The Astrologer class has the highest starting Mind stat of 15! This is followed by the Prophet at 14! The Hero class has the lowest starting Mind stat but with the highest Strength.
- Mind increases maximum FP.
- Mind increases Focus resistance, making you more resistant to Sleep and Madness.
I think the Hero is stereotyped. Why not strong and bright!
Endurance
The Samurai class has the highest starting Endurance of 13 followed by the Hero class with 12. The Prophet class has the lowest at 8. After looking at the stat benefits below, you might think Endurance to be one of the best stats to have.
- Endurance increases maximum stamina. Your stamina will not deplete in the open world unless aggroed (i.e., object of aggression) by enemies.
- Endurance increases physical defense
- Endurance increases Robustness, which is your resistance to Hemorrhage and Frostbite
- Endurance increases your maximum equip load.
Strength
The Hero class has the highest starting Strength stat of 16 with the Vagabond class with 14! The Astrologer class and the Prisoner class both have the lowest at 8.
- Strength increases damage of strength-scaling weapons.
- Strength is required to equip heavy, Strength-based weapons.
I guess being a Hero all the time takes a lot out of you!
Dexterity
Dexterity assists the Warrior class who has the highest starting Dexterity stat of 15. This means you can become a sword fighting magician! This is followed by the Prisoner class with 14. The Hero class has the lowest Dexterity stat!
- Dexterity increases damage of dexterity-scaling weapons.
- Dexterity is required to equip advanced, Dexterity-based weapons.
- Dexterity reduces casting time of spells. This makes sense because spell casting in Elden Ring requires the use of your hands since by definition dexterity
- Dexterity decreases fall damage
- Dexterity makes it harder to get thrown off your mount.
Intelligence
Intelligence both improves your magic skills (sorceries) and improves your magic resistance. It also helps with intelligence related weapons. As you might have guessed, the Astrologer class has the highest starting Intelligence stat with 16, followed by the Prisoner class with 14. The Hero and the Prophet both have the lowest at 7.
- Intelligence boosts damage of intelligence-scaling sorceries and weapons.
- Intelligence is required to perform more advanced sorceries.
- Intelligence improves resistance to magic attacks.
Faith
Faith improves all incantation related classes and weapons. As a Prophet class you will start with the highest Faith stat of 16! Followed by the Confessor class. With 7, the Astrologer class starts with the lowest faith. I guess you really need to have faith in yourself and your ability to perform incantations properly and thus improve their effectiveness.
- Faith boosts power of faith-scaling incantations and weapons.
- Faith is required to perform more advanced incantations.
Believe in yourself and you will prevail!
Arcane
Arcane (i.e., understood by few, mysterious or secret) applies well to legendary and/or rare items and one’s ability to find them. This heightened level of understanding also helps resist mortal wounds and with Arcane scaling weapons. Both the Warrior class and the Bandit class start with the highest Arcane stat with 14! The Vagabond class comes in last with 7.
- Arcane boosts discovery, which increases rare item drops.
- Arcane raises your Death resistance.
- Arcane increases blood loss buildup for weapons that both have Arcane-scaling and blood loss buildup.
Leveling Up Your Stat | Help Me!
Here are some tips for stat building and leveling. Elden Ring is a game that allows the player extensive in-depth control of his/her character strengths, traits, and weaknesses.[2]
- You can never have enough Vigor! If you are unsure, go with Vigor. You will be able to survive dangerous areas, NPCs and bosses easier. I like easy!
- Endurance is related to stamina. The combat system in Elden Ring relies on stamina management. There will come a point when even caster builds need to perform melee and dodge rolls. In order to block attacks, swing your weapon, or dodge away from an any attack, you must always have enough stamina to do so.
- Arcane for Quick Bursts of Damage Due to Blood Loss. Hemorrhage status effects have made arcane the stat of choice for leveling. As blood loss builds up quickly with weapons that scale with Arcane, you will be able to take down even the strongest bosses in a short amount of time by investing points in this stat.
- Don’t rely solely on Arcane! Alway have a backup Goto stat and matching scaling weapon so that you are prepared for those NPCs and bosses that are immune to Arcane boosting effects such as Hemorrhage.
Reset your Elden Ring Stats | Hey, Build Back Better!
As soon as you defeat Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, you will be able to reset (i.e. respec) your stats. She will then become a non-playable character. When you talk to her and choose Rebirth from her list of options, you can respec your stats as long as you also have a Larval Tear in your inventory.

Character Traits – Are these Elden Ring Stats Too?
You can determine how well your character has developed based on these stats. To increase the following character traits, you must level up the eight main stats listed above (Vigor, Mind, Endurance, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, and Arcan). You can refer to the list of traits below for guidance.
Level
As you level up, your stats go up. All your stats combined are represented by this number. Each level increases the number of Runes needed to level up.
Runes Held
This is the number of Runes you currently possess. As you defeat enemies and bosses, you will gain runes. When you die in combat, all your Runes Held are lost.
HP (Health Points)
In the top left corner, a red bar represents Health Points. As a result of taking damage, this value is reduced. Drinking Flasks of Grace or resting at Sites of Grace helps you recover. In the event of a reduction to 0, you will die and be returned to the last checkpoint.
FP (Focus Points)
Focus Points are represented by the blue bar at the top left of the screen. Using this skill, you will be able to cast spells and use skills such as Ashes of War. You can help yourself recover by going to a site of grace or drinking from a flask.
Stamina
In the upper left corner of the screen, you will see a green bar representing stamina. Depending on this, you will be able to take a certain number of actions. These actions include attacking, blocking, running, jumping, and dodging among others. In the event that the resource is depleted, you will not be able to perform any of the above actions. There are certain weapons or talismans you can use to increase the rate at which your stamina bar regenerates over time.
Poise
You will be staggered or not based on how much Poise damage you receive as a result of an enemy attack. It is less likely that you will reel or be staggered back when you are hit if your Poise is higher. It is the heavy armor sets that grant the most Poise. There are weapons that provide a high Poise while you are attacking, so even though you still get damaged, your attack will succeed.
Equip Load
Your weight will be determined by the weight of all the weapons and clothing you have equipped with you. If you have a smaller load of equipment, Dodges are faster. In the event that you have a high load of equipment, dodge rolls become much slower.
Memory Slots
The maximum number of Sorceries and Incantations that you can equip will be displayed here.
Combat Stats, you won’t like me when I’m Angry!
There are two stats that represent the offensive and defensive abilities of your character. By equipping and improving different types of gear, as well as leveling up some of your main stats, you can increase the combat stats of your character.
Right Hand Armament
This is determined by the total offensive power of the item on your right hand. On your right hand, you can equip up to three armaments.
Left Hand Armament
This based on the total offensive power of the item equipped on your left hand. On your left hand, you can equip up to three armaments.
Defense and Damage Blocking
The stats listed below will give you an idea of how well you can defend against different types of damage, both physical and magical.
Physical
The ability to withstand physical attacks in general.
VS Strike
It is the ability to withstand all physical attacks having the potential to do damage, such as clubs and blunt weapons, to the fullest extent.
VS Slash
Defend against physical attacks causing slash damage, such as swords and longbladed weapons, by developing resistance to such attacks.
VS Pierce
Its resistance to piercing attacks, such as lances and other thrusting weapons, is total.
Magic
The ability to resist all forms of magic.
Fire
A total defense against attacks that are based on fire.
Lightning
A measure of the total resistance to lightning-based attacks that can be applied.
Holy
The ability to resist holy-based attacks.
Resistance to Status Ailments
There is a greater likelihood that you will suffer from certain status ailments based on the following stats.
Immunity
Immunity is the ability to resist poison and Scarlet Rot. You can increase your immunity by increasing your attributes, your armor, and your additional effects.
Robustness
Robustness the ability to be resistant to hemorrhaging and frostbite. As you gain attributes, armor, and additional effects, your Robustness stat increases.
Focus
The ability to focus is what resists sleep and madness. Your attributes, armor, and additional effects increase your Focus stat.
Death
Death is the resistance you have to Instant Death. Your attributes, armor, and additional effects increase your Death stat.
How Effects Change Your Elden Ring Stats | I Don’t Feel so Well!
Attacks that result in a status effect are caused by multiple attacks. Once the gauge meter reaches full, the status effect will be applied to the player character or to the enemy. So having multiple effects being applied can cause stat changes that can range from, unnoticeable to a near death experience. You should always pay attention to your status meters. Here is a list of possible status effects.
Poison
You will suffer slow continuous damage for a period of time once you have filled the poison meter.
Deadly Poison
As the name suggests, Deadly Poison is one of the strongest forms of Poison. A larger amount of damage is dealt over a longer period of time and the meter fills up more rapidly as a result.
Scarlet Rot
The Scarlot Rot inflicts damage over the course of a long period of time once the Scarlot Rot meter fills up. There is a possibility that you could die if you don’t pay attention to this warning.
Hemorrhage
As a result of hemorrhage, your body bleeds out and suffers a great deal of damage compared to the health you would normally have.
Frostbite
The result of frostbite is that you will suffer damage and become frostbitten for a period of time. If you suffer frostbite, you are more likely to suffer damage from other sources, and you will recover stamina more slowly as well. Don’t forget to pay attention to this information.
Sleep
In the beginning, you will feel drowsy until the gauge fills up, and at that point, you will start to fall asleep. In the case of weaker characters, they will fall asleep almost immediately. When you are drowsy, you can also become weaker in other areas as well.
Madness
Besides losing a great deal of HP and FP when you are afflicted with madness, you will also go insane as a result of it.
Death
It is not near death at all! The moment you are struck down by Death, your body will immediately die, and you will have to seek resuscitation in one of the Sites of Grace.
How Elden Ring Stats Effects are Measured
In all Status Ailments, there is a gauge which will show how the condition will affect the player if it is filled up. In the case of poison, for example, the gauge will gradually deplete until the indicator reaches zero, which will end the effect. There are other ailments, such as hemorrhages, that will disappear entirely when the remedy is applied.
Using Spells and/or Medicinal Items
If all else fails, you can use cures to address status ailments. Cures can in the form of spells and/or items. Here is a list of cures that you can refer to.
- Status: Poison, Cure: Neutralizing Boluses, Cure Poison, Flame, Cleanse Me
- Status: Deadly Poison, Cure: Neutralizing Boluses, Cure Poison, Flame, Cleanse Me
- Status: Scarlet Rot: Cure: Preserving Boluses, Flame, Cleanse Me

- Status: Frostbite, Cure: Thawfrost Boluses
- Status: Sleep, Cure: Stimulating Boluses, Lucidity
- Status: Madness, Cure: Clarifying Boluses, Lucidity
- Status: Death, Cure: Rejuvenating Boluses
