During PAX West this past weekend, the cast of Final Fantasy XVI and the localization director Christopher-Michael Koji Fox discussed the game, the characters, and the world of Valisthea in great detail. FFXVI producer Naoki Yoshida announced via video at the start of their panel that a free update is available for the game right now, and two paid DLCs are coming soon. FFXVI’s PC version is currently being developed by Square Enix, Yoshida revealed.
Among the highlights of the free update, which is available right now, are alternate outfits for some of the main characters, including Clive, Jill, and Torgal, and a weapon transmog feature that lets you change the appearance of Clive’s sword while keeping the stats of your weapon. As part of Patch 1.10, some other quality-of-life improvements will be made to the game, including changes to Arcade Mode, new controller layouts, additional settings within the System menu, and several fixes to game-related issues.
