As you may know from our glowing review, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will hit the PlayStation 5 on October 20th. Nevertheless, nobody would blame you if you weren’t familiar with Insomniac’s fast-paced combat system, and they certainly wouldn’t blame you if you needed some tips to handle all the new features the game has to offer. We have compiled sixteen pieces of advice for you to help you get back into the (literally) swing of things right here. Play Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on your PlayStation 5; here are some beginner tips.
Parrying: A Guide
As one of the most significant additions to the wallcrawlers’ arsenal, parrying is a hard skill to master at first. The spider-sense indicator is important, not the attack animation. Some attack animations make it seem like the hit is coming sooner or later than you thought, but the ring above the enemy’s head won’t ever let you down. Press L1 as soon as it turns red and you’re done. Accessibility settings allow you to change the color if you’re having trouble seeing it.
Be patient to get your parries down. Despite the fact that most of the Spider-Men’s moves require you to move quickly to avoid attacks and thwip across the arena, parries do not cancel out your attacks – if you push the punch button and try to parry mid-attack, the parry will not come out until after the attack is over, leaving you vulnerable to attacks. The same applies to boss battles. Waiting your turn and parrying at the right time will allow you to get by without taking any damage.
Here’s how to fast travel
Spider-Man 2 may have shown off its lightning-quick fast travel system in some impressive clips, but it’s not something you’ll be able to use right away. As you progress through an area, you must complete a certain number of quests, whether they are collecting collectibles, taking photos, or doing side missions. Crime, however, does not count as progress in this game, like in past games. You can track your progress via the district meter at the top of your map. Simply hold triangle and place your cursor exactly where you want Spider-Man to go.
Invest in wind tunnels and updrafts
You get some of the fastest travel in the series with your new Web Wings, even though it might take a little effort to unlock proper fast travel. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you can rocket across the city if you take advantage of updrafts and wind tunnels when you see them.
