This guide will explain how to perform the Mayachin Shrine challenge within The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom by wearing your batting gloves and releasing your pinball master inside.
There are many factors that go into it, including timing, placing pegs and spikes here and there, swinging with a weapon like you’re swinging a baseball bat, and the Ultrahand ability. When I first walked inside, I thought I would walk straight out and come back later, but then I took a moment, regrouped, looked around, and noticed all the clues that led me to the answer.
Let’s talk about how to complete the Mayachin Shrine challenge in Tears of the Kingdom.
How to Solve Mayachin Shrine Puzzle
You will need to step onto the square, raised platform with a target symbol next to the glowing yellow-orange post that stands upright to solve the Mayachin mystery. There will be a small scene, and the first target, a bullseye on the left, will be easy to see, as it glows the same color as the square and post.
Control objects with Ultrahand
Then walk down the staircase and unlock Ultrahand by holding L, pushing the right analog stick to the right, and then releasing L. Hover over the peg pierced into the ground right next to the painted white and green mechanism. Press A when the peg is highlighted green.

Hold R and use the D-pad to rotate or move the spike. Turn it horizontally, and then join the peg to the mechanism where you see green.
Using one of the white poles lying on the floor, connect it with the peg you just connected to the mechanism to form a pinball flipper/lever, as shown in the image below.

Link Needs a Weapon
As soon as you have completed the first construction build, head back up the stairs, remove the weapon using the Y button, and then stand next to the glowing post. As if you were in a baseball batter’s box, wait for the giant ball to roll out of the gaping hole. This part requires impeccable timing.
If the ball rolls out of the hole constantly, wait for it to roll into a spot close to the constructed flipper. Once it reaches the target on the left, press Y to strike the glowing post. The pinball flipper you’ve built will strike the ball toward the target, just like in a pinball game. It will turn green if you hit the target. If you miss it or are a few seconds too early, you’ll have to try again.
Mayachin’s Target Two Will Appear
Another cutscene will play after a successful pinball flip, then two gates will open, and the right-hand side will reveal a second target. There is a rectangular board hanging on chains blocking you from hitting the target. You must move the board out of the way by using Ultrhand.
You can do it in two ways:
Place the spike and board in the slab above and press B to leave them there. Remove the spike from the ground and attach the flat side to the board.
Use Ultrahand to flip the board horizontally and connect it to the peg you’ve just lodged in the slab above. Remove the pin from the ground and place it in the large slab above. Leave just the flat head sticking out.
In Mayachin Shrine Puzzle, move obstacles out of the way.
Link Must Hit the Post Twice
Once you’ve successfully connected the board like you’ve pinned a piece of paper to a pin board, run back upstairs to the glowing post. Remove your weapon and hit the post once to turn the flipper back to its original position. When the ball is ready to be flipped again, the post will turn yellow-orange.
When the ball aligns for the right-side bullseye, time your swing to perfection. Let it roll a little further so that you can allow for a late swing this time. Hit the target and wait for the final cutscene to open the second gate for the treasure chest, and you will be able to hit the ball to the right instead of pulling it to the left again.
Now that the Mayachin Shrine puzzle is solved, you can collect your Light of Blessing.
Second Target Acquired in Mayachin Shrine Puzzle
Where is Mayachin Shrine in TOTK?
In the Hyrule Field region, north of the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower, you can find the Mayachin Shrine, located near Mount Daphnes and the Aquame Bridge in the Exchange Ruins. There is a reason I should explain how to get there from the Lookout Landing since it is central to everything. The Mayachin Shrine is on the opposite side of Hyrule Castle Moat.
You are heading in the wrong direction the closer you get to the First Gatehouse in Hyrule Castle Moat. If you pass the Passeri Greenbelt on your right and Rach Ruins on your left, you are heading in the right direction.
What Clues Helped Me Complete Mayachin Shrine?
As you cross the first platform, you have to build a pinball lever using Ultrahand. The glow of the post you hit and the target after stepping onto the symbol platform also hinted that specific elements were connected.
A Clue to Mayachin Shrine Puzzle
I have to admit, I was confused by the second part of the clue, but once the second target revealed itself, I understood everything.
