In this guide, we discuss how to activate and use Phoenix Shift, one of the abilities granted by the Eikonic Phoenix in the game.
As the series’ first action-based combat game, Final Fantasy XVI (FFXVI/FF16) is quite challenging. If you don’t have much experience with action games, this can be a bit of a learning curve even if you love Final Fantasy but don’t know much about turn-based battle systems.
What is Phoenix Shift in Final Fantasy XVI (FFXVI/FF16)?
In Final Fantasy XVI, you can use the Phoenix Shift ability that allows you to close in quickly on your target. In Arcade Mode, you can also use other battle techniques such as Shift Strike and Shift Shot to rack up damage and bonus points. The Eikon Phoenix comes with this capability by default, but it can be upgraded later on.
The Phoenix Shift ability is unlocked by gaining the power of Phoenix during the quest Sunrise, Sunset. There may be certain story sections that must be completed before this ability can be unlocked.
How to Equip and Use Phoenix Shift
When you equip the Phoenix Eikon, its abilities are activated by pressing the Circle button. Pressing the Square button launches a Shift Strike attack once the Phoenix Shift attack mode is activated. Shift Shot attacks can also be launched by pressing the Triangle button during combat.
What are the Phoenix Shift Battle Techniques?
Aerial Shift Strike, Shift Combo, Aerial Shift Combo, Aerial Shift Shot and Lifting Shift Shot are some of the additional attacks you can launch during Phoenix Shift mode, in addition to Shift Strike and Shift Strike. If you land 15 Shift Strikes or Shift Shots combined, excluding battles in Hall of Virtue, you can unlock the Phoenix Shift Trophy.
More about the Eikonic Phoenix
Phoenix is the first aspect of fire in Final Fantasy XVI. Joshua Rosfield, the dominant figure of the Phoenix, is the second son of the Archduke of Rosaria and his younger brother. Phoenix is a burden to him, and he wishes it passed down to his brother, Clive, who wields a portion of its flames.
