An updated Xbox system considers player infringements, as well as the actions taken by enforcement teams against these reports, based on the number and severity of those infringements. As a result of the new system, players can accumulate strikes based on how many infringements they commit. The Xbox Wire announcement explained that each strike will result in a ban of an appropriate length of time. For example, two strikes will earn you a one-day ban, and four strikes will earn you a seven-day ban.
You will be banned from social features, such as messaging, parties, party chat, and online multiplayer, for a whole year if you accumulate eight strikes. Except in extreme cases where Xbox has determined there has been illegal activity involved, you will still have access to the content you purchased.
