Super Nintendo Entertainment System was released in Japan and South Korea in 1990, followed by the Super NES and SNES in North America in 1991, Europe and Oceania in 1992, and South America in 1993. In Japan, the system is known as Super Famicom. In South Korea, it is known as Super Comboy. Playtronic released the system in Brazil on August 30, 1993. Due to regional lockouts, cartridges for one version cannot be used in another version despite being essentially the same.
