A Zonai device is one of the most important components of the Ultrahand mechanic that allows players to craft all kinds of contraptions to assist Link. You’ll need a Zonai fan to cross a lake in Tears of the Kingdom before reaching the shrine on the sky island.
My understanding of the Ultrahand mechanic and Zonai Devices was not complete until I understood how to use the fans. Eventually, all the pieces fell together, and I was able to learn just how valuable these fans really are in Zelda. Here’s the complete guide.
Secrets to Using Zonai Fans in Tears of the Kingdom
Upon entering Sky Island, you’ll first see the fans at the edge of a lake next to some of the constructs. On the ground, you’ll find many fans and logs thrown around. The first step is to build a platform.
The Ultrahand can be used to combine three logs into one small raft. The Zonai fan comes in handy at this point since there is no sail to help you gain momentum. Attach the fan to the back of the raft with the flatter side facing out using the Ultrahand. Drop the whole contraption into the water now.
