There hasn’t been much smoothness at the launch of Lord of the Fallen. Even though it previewed well, gained lots of praise for how beautiful it looked, and received a good selection of scores when the review embargo lifted, some internet users have been critical of CI Games’ faithful interpretation of the Soulslike genre. Despite the fact that the game shipped with an outdated build, Xbox users had the most performance issues.
It was announced by developer HexWorks that the Xbox version would be updated “to bring it in line with other platforms.” Our articles on this game have received a few comments stating that players were eager to get refunds for the Xbox version, as we’ve reported on it. In the wake of this launch-period flop, I contacted CI Games to see what steps they are taking to keep Xbox players happy.
The CI Games senior brand director, Ryan Hill, said in a statement to VG247, “Our incredibly dedicated team at HexWorks has been working with Microsoft to release three substantial patches since Lords of the Fallen launched last Friday,” citing the launch of the Xbox Series X/S version. As a result of these rapid actions by the team, performance and graphical quality have vastly improved. The patch also features a number of general gameplay improvements and quality of life improvements.”
