Despite not being confirmed when exactly Starfield will be available for preload, a recent listing may confirm the date.
With games as huge as they are these days, preloading can save you a lot of time so you can just jump right into it. Officially, we don’t know when Starfield preload will be available, but according to a recent Amazon listing (spotted by GameScout), preload is expected to be available as early as this week: August 9. That preload date is still listed on Amazon for an Xbox Series S bundle. Furthermore, it mentions that you’ll be able to play the game after September 6, when it’s released to the public. On a separate listing for the Premium Edition of the game, which gives you early access, it does mention the game will be playable September 1 as expected, along with listing August 9 as the preload date.
It’s important to note, however, that this is only a retailer listing, so it’s entirely possible things could change, especially since the preload date is just a few days away. Secondly, the Xbox bundle listing states that you can play the game up to 120fps, which is “all powered by Xbox Velocity Architecture.” However, Bethesda’s Todd Howard confirmed back in June that the game is locked at 30 frames per second on both Xbox Series X and S. The listing could refer to the framerate you can achieve on PC, but that would be odd considering the mention of Xbox Velocity Architecture.
